Anna Burris

Anna Burris, 65, of Benson, North Carolina passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2025. 

Anna was preceded in death by her parents, Deacon Willie Charles Wright Sr., and mother, Lela Mae Wright; one brother, Willie Charles Wright Jr.; and two sisters, Willie Mae Edwards and Beulah Mae Woolcock. 

She leaves behind to cherish her memory: her beloved husband, Mr. Maxie Burris, of the home; three sons, Alander (Reeshemay) Melvin, Jarvis Getter of Newburgh, NY, and Deacon Jamar (Geneva) Melvin of Dunn, NC; one daughter, Shakara (Lamont) Whitley of Benson, NC; three Godchildren, Dorthelea Williams of New Paltz, NY, Paulyyinah (Joshua) Surles of Erwin, NC, and Timothy Roberts of Newburgh, NY; two stepchildren, Shirley Young of Tarboro, NC, and Joshua Paul Burris of Jacksonville, NC; as well as numerous grandchildren: Isaac Melvin, Alayah Melvin, Micaiah Mason, Malachi Campbell, Sarai Melvin, Rebekah Campbell, Janada Melvin, Anthony Campbell Jr., Anna Melvin, Javiah Getter, Jarvis Getter Jr., Alera Melvin, Zi'yon Whitley, Xavier Melvin, and Reginald Melvin. She also leaves behind one great-grandson, Alamar Melvin, and one great-granddaughter, Ava Melvin.

Anna is survived by five brothers: John Wright, Earl Wright, Charles Wright, Terry (Kari) Wright of Poughkeepsie, NY, and Alvin (Elizabeth) Wright of Brundidge, AL; five sisters: Sylvia Roosa, Minnie (Richard) Wright of Poughkeepsie, NY, Jacqueline Wright, Dawn Wright of Brundidge, AL, and Lessie Wright of Ozark, AL. She also leaves a very special aunt, Mother Parthenia Faison of Dunn, NC, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and a church family who love her dearly.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 22, 2025, at God House of Prayer, Dunn, North Carolina.

A viewing and visitation will be held from 12:00 until 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 22, 2025. Interment will follow in the Resthaven Cemetery. 

Services are entrusted to Genesis Mortuary Services of Dunn.
